We shot this video within the first month of lockdown. We found that calling out the “Click Here” button in the YouTube video interface almost doubled the average CTR. We’ve since implemented this call-out method on many of our videos.
Since the video performed so well, we created another version of it to test out, seen below.

Honey’s marketing bread and butter has always been driven by performance ads.
While being tasked to build Honey’s brand and drive the creation of upper-funnel work, I’ve also had a hand in creating ads where success can be more easily measured via clicks and installs. On average, our creative team will produce upwards of 15 videos a quarter since we like to push a lot of content out to test and see what sticks. Some of these were produced in-house or with influencers, while others were created by agency partners where I played the role of Creative Director/Brand Manager. You’ll see that some of these videos look less-polished… and that’s actually okay. These types of videos can perform just as well as a million dollar one.
Most of these videos are YouTube TrueView :05 skippable ads where they are in the hands of the algorithm— which sounds much scarier than it actually is.
